How I Watch 3,000+ Channels in HD With No Satellite Dish and No Cable Bill

Dave Newell - Publisher & Web Junkie!
Hey, Dave here… Since you found this page there’s a good chance you’re looking for exactly what I was searching for a few months ago: I wanted to find the best way to stream live TV over the Internet so that I could watch the news, football, other sports, tv shows, etc. while simultaneously surfing the web, working, etc…
Big networks like ABC and Fox will let you download recent episodes of their shows, but that’s not watching live TV, it’s downloading old TV. The same goes for sites like Hulu and Veoh… It’s all pre-aired material.
If you want to watch actual live television on your computer you need to download and install a very simple type of program called “satellite TV to PC software” which works by receiving satellite TV signals (thousands of them) over the Internet and converting them into a live, high resolution video feed on your PC or Mac:
When I first heard of this I wondered if it was even legal. It turns out it’s completely legal because these are FTA (free to air) satellite stations which are being broadcast from all over the world 24/7. The software just allows you to watch everything without a satellite dish and receiver because it streams everything over the web.
What can you watch? Depending on which software you download (comparisons below) you can watch 3,000 to 4,000 channels of movies, local and international news, live sports (every sport), TV shows, special events, music videos, kids channels, history, education, nature, science, cooking, world events, documentaries, special programming… It’s much more variety than what I was getting from my local cable company. And it’s basically free. There’s a small one-time fee for the software and that’s it. There are no subscription fees or monthly charges… Nothing else to pay for…
The only issue I had was figuring out which TV software to get because there are so many websites selling similar products. They all claim to be the best, have the most channels, etc. but they are NOT created equal. Some work perfectly and others are poorly designed, or never get updated, etc. The following section contains my detailed reviews and comparisons of the leading TV softwares on the market. Yes, I actually bought and tested each of these products myself. Demo photos are included with each review.
Fortunately there is a clear winner. iSoftwareTV is what I’m currently using and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. It does what it promises, allowing you to watch over 3,000 satellite TV channels in excellent video and sound quality. It’s also very reasonably priced at only $34.95 one-time fee, making it the least expensive TV software on the market. All the other softwares are charging anywhere from $50 to $100 and don’t compare to the quality of iSoftwareTV.

CHANNELS: 199 sports channels (every sport), 258 news channels, 146 movie/tv show channels, 239 general channels… Then about 2,000 more in various categories like science, nature, politics, kids, community, games, education, comedy, culture, lifestyle, food & wine, business, travel, etc.
Review: iSoftwareTV has a very high quality, professional feel to it, plus several smart features the other softwares lack. For example, pop-up channel clues… If you move your mouse over the channel name it gives you a pop-up text description of the channel. This is a huge time saver because the channel names don’t always make it obvious what they’re about. There is also a search tool that allows you to find specific content quickly and avoid channel surfing. You can browse channels by country, language, or category. iSoftwareTV also performs automatic channel updates when channels change or go off the air. So every channel in the list actually works. The other softwares all come with quite a few “dead” channels because they never get deleted from the menu.
The interface consists of a silver video player surrounded by several controls, menus and options. To switch between full-screen and mini-mode you just double click the video feed.
MOST IMPORTANTLY – The video and sound quality are excellent. The video feed is fast and most channels are in very high resolution. Some are in full HD. Keep in mind that you need a high speed Internet connection such as DSL or cable. As long as you’re not on dial up it will work perfectly.
I was able to download the software immediately after completing my purchase and the installation took about 2 minutes. There are no hidden fees and nothing else is required besides a computer and an Internet connection.
iSoftwareTV also comes with the following bonuses:
1. Music downloading software to get unlimited MP3s
2. Software that allows you to record live TV
3. CD and DVD burning software
4. Registry Cleaner and Antivirus software
5. PC optimizer which speeds up your computer

Review: If you don’t mind spending quite a bit more money ($99.95) Satellite TV for PC 2009 Titanium Edition comes with 4,000 channels, which is 1,000 more than my #1 choice. However, I feel like the extra channels included here are mostly “fluff” and don’t add very much true value. They’re low budget, foreign channels, or channels that are off the air most of the time. So it’s hard to justify spending $99.95 just to get those additional channels when iSoftwareTV is such a fantastic product for 1/3 the price. I also noticed that when changing channels I often times had to wait 10 to 20 seconds for the channel to load. That feels like an eternity if you’re looking for something to watch. With iSoftwareTV the channels appear on screen almost instantly – within 5 seconds tops.

I was really looking forward to trying this software because their website looks fantastic. Many people who don’t know any better will choose this software simply based on how professional their website looks. However, I was extremely disappointed because there are only 120 English/American channels. My #1 and #2 choices both have over 1,500 English/American channels. If you speak several languages SatelliteDirect may be worth your while, but if you only speak English (like me) you’re going to have a very limited selection of entertainment. Some of the foreign channels do have subtitles, but not many… maybe 20%. On the positive side: The picture quality is just as good as the others and it’s still very reasonably priced for what you get. Hopefully in the future they’ll include MUCH more content designed for English speaking users.

Review: Satellite TV For PC 2009 Elite Edition is made by the same company as my #2 choice, and is very similar. The main difference is that it comes with 1,000 less stations and is half the price; $49.95. Although this is a decent internet television product, and I would normally recommend it, iSoftwareTV still has a more refined feel, more features, plus it’s less expensive. Something else worth mentioning: When I installed Satellite TV For PC 2009 Elite Edition, my computer’s antivirus software popped up and warned me that it might have malicious spyware built into it. It seemed like this was a false alarm because I allowed the installation and I did not have any noticeable problems, but you never know. Even if it was a false alarm, you’d think that a reputable software developer would have fixed whatever was causing it.
Final Summary:
If you want to watch TV online it’s a no-brainer to get iSoftwareTV. It looks great, works great, sets up in 2 minutes, and does it all for only $34.95… I still can’t believe how much entertainment it provides for less than one month of cable.
Satellite TV for PC 2009 Titanium Edition comes with an extra 1,000 channels. But it costs $99.95 and I don’t personally feel like it’s worth the price difference . If money is no object it may be worth $99.95, otherwise go with iSoftwareTV.
SatelliteDirect put a lot of energy into creating a nice website, but didn’t focus on what matters most – their audience. The software only contains 120 English/American channels. If you’re interested in watching foreign channels with subtitles it may be a good choice for you.
I’ve tried at least four other less popular TV softwares and none of them are worth writing reviews on. They either don’t get updated, or never worked well to begin with.
Overall, TV-to-PC software offers an affordable, convenient solution if you want to watch TV on your computer. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future when some of the larger development companies release full-blown Internet television packages, which will probably include 100% high definition programming and a highly interactive TV/shopping experience.
A Note About Clickbank Products:

Clickbank is a 100% secure payment processor for thousands of downloadable products. Each one comes with a 60-day money back guarantee. If you’re not completely satisfied with the software just send them an email within 60 days for a “no questions asked” refund.
NOTE: A lot of people have been asking me if they can set this up to watch all these channels on their regular TV, instead of their computer. The answer is “yes” you just need the right cable to connect your computer to your TV. And the cable depends upon what video inputs you have on the back of your TV. If you do a little bit of research on this you can figure out what cable you need and find it on amazon.com for about $10.00

*****GREAT PRODUCT***** i decided to try isofwaretv because i’ve been looking for a good way to watch live news online… This comes with literally hundreds of live news stations from every city in the world, not to mention thousands of other stations with sports, shows, movies, etc. I would have paid a lot more than $34.95 for this… excellent product

i used to work for a satellite dish company (direct tv) and we of course knew about this kind of software because it’s essentially a competitor. it’s true iSoftwareTV is the best way to watch all these channels without having to pay every month

What are the minimum requirements for running this software,my current computer is a dinosaur.
By Dave Newell, August 11, 2009 @ 4:20 pm
Answer for Melody: I’ve only tried the software on my laptop, which is fairly new (a few years). But as long as you have a high speed Internet connection and enough processing power to run basic applications (like your Internet browser) you will be fine. Give it a shot. If it doesn’t operate smoothly on your machine you can always get a refund. – Dave

Dave,
I am in the military and stationed in Naples Italy. My question is that does this software come in CD so that you can download it to both PC and desktop, if so do they mail to FPO AE address?
I wish this software truly work because cables are not allowed on base.

What are the “premium channels” can you get the hbo’s/ stars / showtimes etc with this package? My husband is the all time pay per view king.
By Dave Newell, September 28, 2009 @ 3:46 pm
Answer for Michelle: Yes, if you want you can connect your computer to your 42″ TV and it will work fine. The resolution of the channels varies from 1024×768 all the way up to 1920×1080 (full HD). You just need the right cable… You can get ‘em on amazon for $10

Ok Dave. I have read your review. I have read all the comments. I am ready to buy. I am tired of my husband being the “remote hog”. He never really watches anything but sports, the rest of the time he just flips.
I will comment later on how I like it.

I am going to give this a try… more for my parents than me actually – they need to cut down on expenses and also need a way to watch tv while traveling starting next year for their retirement. Of course, we will appreciate the savings too – can’t wait to make the phone call to the cable company and tell them to shove their bill where the sun doesn’t shine!
